The Nephew chatter!

Ok so I have two nephews, Aaron who turned 3 in January and Jason who will be 1 in June. I love both of them so much and just had to post these short videos of them. They are both chattering and it is fun to see how much they have grown!

(Sorry the videos is sideways, I didn't know thats how I took the videos)

Thanksgiving and Christmas 2008

Thanksgiving

This years Thanksgiving was spent at my Grandma and Grandpa Nelsons home in Salem Oregon. It was great to have all the family around and to eat lots of turkey! On the Tuesday night before Thanksgiving, my brother Joseph and his family, Carrie and Aaron, Spent the night in our little apartment. It was great to have them here and although I was bummed that our apartment’s indoor swimming pool was closed, we still had a lot of fun swimming in the hot tub.

We have a pretty traditional Thanksgiving dinner on Thursday and then we spend the day chatting and plotting the next day's shopping plans. The next morning we got up very early so early that it was not bright! Well I got up and took my brothers Scott and Cory along for the ride. I think that is fun to go out and shop in the madness but my mother and husband would totally disagree with me. I love a bargain!

(Oh the wonderful food)

On Saturday we spend a little bit of time with my Moms side of the family at my Uncle Jim's house. We have turkey and Thanksgiving day leftovers, muddy buddies and all sorts of treats. It was fun because my Grandpa Pippert was there to join the fun (he lives in Arizona and doesn't get up here to often).

CHRISTMAS

After Thanksgiving the next big thing was Christmas. Our plan was to fly down to Utah and spend Christmas with Sean's Family. With Sean's new job, it took forever t finally nail down what when we were going to be able to leave to fly down to Utah. Well by the time we knew we looked into tickets to fly there and it was going to cost almost $1000 to fly down there. So we ended up very reluctantly deciding that maybe it wasn't supposed to be. We then thought that we would surprise my family, who live about 5 hours away, with coming home for Christmas. Well the week before we were to leave it snowed and snowed and snowed. It was so bad that it was required to have chains on your car at all times. Church was even cancelled that week. We were hoping that the weather would get better by the following week so that we could still make it to my parents for Christmas. It just so happens that the Portland area experienced the worst snow storm in over 40 years. The Sunday before we were going to leave, church again was cancelled and the major freeway that led to my parent’s home was closed. We were stuck!

(A branch and Pine Cone that were covered in ice. This poor branch ended up breaking because of all the snow and ice and had to be cut off.)

(I wrote this in the snow outside our apartment. Its sappy, I know, but I like it.)

We ended up having our first Christmas with just the two of us. It ended up working out pretty well because Sean had to work on Christmas day. He left at 10 am and didn't get back till 8. I still wanted him to feel like we had some kind of Christmas so I had purchased my first turkey and baked it to perfection! It was a late dinner but it did make it feel a bit more like Christmas. One thing that I realized throughout this experience is that as much as I love spending the holidays with my family, as long as I get to spend them with my hubby it doesn’t really matter where we are.

(The two Parakeets that Sean bought me for Christmas, meet Bronco and Bella)

(This is a Picture of Bronco sitting on my finger. Training Parakeets is not an easy task.)

For New Years, we ended up Celebrating together in the comfort of our apartment. It was simple and it was nice. We journeyed through 2008 together and it was great to welcome the year 2009, just the two of us.
