4th of July

For the Fourth of July we decided that we needed to escape! So we decided to make a trip to California. At first we thought about going to Disneyland but then realized that we didn't know anyone down there and that it would be a bit expensive. So we thought about going to Sacramento. Sean has an old mission companion that lives there and he wanted to go see them. Also my sister lives about 3 hours away from Sacramento, in Fresno, so we thought we would go see them too. So we hopped in the car after I was done with work that Friday and started driving to California. I had booked a room in Reno so we were going to drive to Reno and then get up the next day to drive the rest of the day.

The hotel we stayed in was probably the worst hotel that we have ever stayed in. It was supposed to be a non smoking room and it smelled really bad of smoke. As well as when I went to use the bathroom, there were cigarette butts in the toilet. It was really disgusting. That is one hotel we will never sleep at ever again!

Well the next day we made it to Sacramento just to get in a car again to head to San Francisco! I was really excited to go to San Francisco and was ok with the fact that we would be in the car for another couple of hours.

We stopped on our way to eat at the worlds best pizza parlor. It was really good! It was Neil and Caroline Depayola's favorite place to get pizza. After we devoured our food we hopped back into the car and went to see the Bay Bridge.

San Fransisco Bridge from the Bay Bridge view point.

Pier 49, They have a bunch of piers down on the water line and on the piers they have quite a few shops on each pier.

We went by to see a street that is called Lombard Street. It is a road that zig zags and has beautiful flowers planted the whole way down the road.

We then went to find the park and house where Full house was filmed. We also went to frolic in the park! Here are some random pictures of the fun we had.

Caroline wanted to see a picture of her new hair cut so I took one for her.

Next we were off to see the Golden Gate Bridge! It really is a beautiful bridge.

Are they crazy or just in love? Not quite sure ;)

I think Sean is just plain crazy.

The city was doing construction around where we were going to take pictures and there was this sign that was lying on the ground. Neil picked it up and put it under his car so it looked like he had run over the sign. It was really quite funny.

We had a really good time hanging out with Niel and Caroline and hope we can do it again someday.
After visiting the City we headed back to Sacramento where the next day we went to church with Caroline and Neil and helped them with there sunbeams class that they taught. After church we headed off on our journey downward towards Fresno.

After dinner at Mitch's parents house, we went to a parking lot to watch the fireworks. The firework were fun to watch but it was more fun to spend time with Maria, Mitch and family.
Unfortunately we weren't able to stay with Maria and Mitch for more then night but it was really great to see them and get a chance to talk.

This is the dry desert the we drove through to get back home.

All in all it was a very good trip and it was fun to see friends, family and to get out of the house.
