Port of the Chickens.

After leaving the temple we stayed right on the beach in Boa Viagim. It was very beautiful there! We also had the opportunity to do some site seeing and decided to go to the port of the chickens. It was so named because when the slave trade was abolished in Brazil, they still snuck slave into the country by hiding them in the bottom of boats that hauled chickens. I feel very bad for those of whom had to endure such treatment. I'm sure there reward will be great in the eternities.

Here are a couple of pictures of the landscape on our way to the port. We ended up taking a tour bus our there.

One of the street in the port city.

They had several of these carvings. They were carved out of the trunks of old palm trees.

This was a restaurant and it was literally right on the beach.
We took a beach buggy around to see all the beaches. There were about 4 in total.

This beach was only open for surfers.

This was definitely our favorite beach. You could sit as the water lapped at you feet and they had people out there selling food and drinks. There was a reef out about 100 yards out and you could walk all the way out there. I think Sean and I could have stayed out there all day long if we could have. They even had little tropical fish swimming on the beach. It was very beautiful.

These pictures below were taken on the buggy ride around the beaches and the town.
We had the chance to be able to go scuba diving. We got to go see the reefs and the tropical fish. I was really impressed Sean did really well considering he doesn't really like to swim.

Here is another family that Sean helped teach while he was on his mission. They are Lopes family.
One of the grandchildren who was a lot of fun to play with.

Here are some pictures from Sean on his mission. This is the Marcia Gomes and her husband. Sean helped baptise them.
These were some cool statues out side the hotel.
Spettus. This was a Brazilian grill that was just amazing!

The view from our hotel at night.

It rained the day we left and and it rained so hard that there was about a foot of water in the road. There was a lot of trash floating in the water.

The City.

This was taken as we left Recife. This trip was really amazing and I'm grateful for the time that I got to go to Brazil and share this experience with Sean!
